Join us as a Senior Software Engineer in our critical Account Integrity team. This is a high-impact engineering role with a strong product focus, dedicated to solving complex, real-world adversarial problems to directly protect our global customer base. How we work: The Account Integrity Team The Account Integrity team is on the front lines, dedicated to safeguarding our platform against sophisticated financial crime. We leverage cutting-edge machine learning, real-time transaction monitoring, and advanced data analysis to create robust controls and detection capabilities. Our vision is to build a globally scalable fraud prevention engine that protects customer accounts, prevents scams, and consistently surpasses regulatory expectations. What will you be working on? This defining role involves continuously improving our financial crime prevention infrastructure and systems. You will deliver a direct, measurable impact on customer security by taking end-to-end ownership of projects focused on: Building and refining critical controls to protect Wise customers accounts from account takeovers. Drive Backend and Frontend for our crime prevention and detection systems - You will be working 80% of the time on a backend and 20% on the frontend You will be delivering a tangible, real-world impact by securing customers' money, accelerating product growth by raising automation levels, and helping us engineer a world-class money transfer product.   What do you need? Engineering Expertise: Professional experience with Java or other JVM-based languages, including the Spring framework.  System Design & Operation: Proven experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines, Distributed, and Concurrent Systems. Product Ownership: A strong product mindset, accountability, and the ability to drive projects independently, making data-driven decisions with the customer in mind. Data Proficiency: Experience with relational and non-relational databases, including query optimisation and designing resilient schemas. Code Quality: Exceptional fundamentals, sharp problem-solving ability, and a commitment to Test Driven Development and best coding practices. Collaboration: Excellent communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts across teams (Product, Data Science, Investigations). Nice to Have: Familiarity with the machine learning lifecycle (data pipelines, feature engineering, and deploying ML systems into production). Additional Information Interested? The Europe and UK Business Onboarding and Verification team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to build seamless, scalable and compliant onboarding for businesses across the region. Our focus is business onboarding and verification: creating systems that understand and verify businesses, helping legitimate customers access Wise quickly and safely. Requirements vary across markets, business types and ownership structures. We manage this complexity through automated verification, flexible information-collection flows and robust controls that reduce financial crime risk without adding unnecessary friction. By increasing automation and improving the wider onboarding experience, we help Wise onboard more businesses, enter new markets and scale efficiently. What will you be doing You will design and build reliable, scalable systems supporting business onboarding and verification across Europe and the UK. Build and improve systems for verifying businesses, owners, directors and other associated parties. Automate information collection, verification and decision-making to reduce onboarding time and manual work. Create flexible onboarding journeys that adapt to different markets, business types and regulatory requirements. Develop effective controls and monitoring to manage financial-crime and compliance risks with minimal customer friction. Own projects end to end, from problem discovery and technical design through to delivery and measuring impact. Collaborate with Product, Compliance, Operations and other engineering teams while maintaining high standards for reliability, testing and code quality. A strong product mindset and passion for user experience, you prioritise work with the customers in mind and make data-driven decisions to fix customer pain-points Experience of Java or other JVM based language, experience with Spring framework and deep understanding of JDBC and database internals. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Distributed and Concurrent Systems Experience with machine learning basics (data pipelines, feature engineering, recall/precision, familiarity with machine learning systems in production) is a huge plus Experience working with relational and non-relational databases, query optimisation and designing schemas You enjoy writing testable code and believe in Test Driven Development Additional Information Interested?
