Software Engineer - Battery Controller & Infrastructure
iwell· Utrecht, Utrecht, Netherlands (netherlands)·Jul 29

Role - Software Engineer - Battery Controller & Infrastructure Company - iwell - Harmonizing Clean Energy Location - Utrecht About iwell At iwell, we are all about reinforcing energy security. We help European businesses become more energy independent. With growing regulations, extreme price volatility and rising grid issues, they need to be resilient. It is time to take charge and think ahead. We deliver energy management solutions that ensure that businesses are always in control of their energy. Our in-house developed EMS and modular battery storage drive profit through sustainability, making businesses future-proof.  We are a fast-growing international team of bold, talented individuals. From engineers and software developers to creative thinkers and customer-focused business developers. No matter what your strong suit is, we always are looking for people who are determined to make a positive impact. The Role The Battery Controller team owns the software that is closest to the hardware: the C.NET application that steers our battery systems and guards their safety. This is code that runs on real hardware, in the field, making real-time decisions that keep our customers' energy operations safe and reliable. But this team owns more than the application. We also run a large share of the infrastructure that keeps the fleet operational such as Linux, Ansible orchestration, self-hosted DevOps stack, VPN gateways, networking and monitoring. We don't believe in developers who throw their code over a wall to "ops", so we're looking for someone who is two things at once: a solid Cengineer, and someone who gets a real kick out of the infrastructure side. You own things end to end, you document as you go, and you're the person your team can lean on when the plumbing needs care. Success in this role means being able to: Write and maintain safety-critical C.NET code with the care it deserves. Own infrastructure end to end  Support our Operations team whenever help is needed, move comfortably between application work and operational work, and see the two as one job rather than two. What you will do Develop and maintain the Capplication that controls our battery systems and guards their safe operation. For example: designing a safety module for the Battery Controller, which helps in keeping our batteries safe and only alert the on-call operator when it is absolutely necessary, or integrating a new type of battery in our battery portfolio. Take ownership of part of our infrastructure and operations. You won't do all of it, but you'll pick up an area (or a few) and run with it. Depending on where your strengths and interest lie, the infra work could include: Orchestrating our linux based fleet with Ansible and other automation tools. Keeping self-hosted infrastructure healthy across Hetzner, Azure and StackHero (OS and Docker updates, DevOps pipelines, our GitLab instance, and the Mikrotik-based VPN gateway). Designing, testing and documenting new on-site network setups for our Customer Operations team to install. What are looking for Solid experience as a C.NET developer, writing clean, maintainable code. Knowledge of hardware communication protocols such as Modbus and MQTT. Hands-on experience with Linux, and a love of scripting and automating tasks away. Comfort with infrastructure tooling such as Ansible, Docker, Azure and OpenVPN, and with cloud/hosting environments like Hetzner. The know-how to set up a reliable and secure network, and the curiosity to keep up with the field. A genuine affinity for the operational side of software — you see running the system as part of building it. Strong communication skills and a habit of documenting your work. Fluency in English is required. Weekly working hours of 32-40 hours  Coming into the office 3-4 days per week What we offer 30 holidays per year, plus an annual company trip of 3 days The opportunity to do volunteer work, by offering 1 volunteer day per year Learning & Development budget of EUR 1,500 per year  Attractive pension plan with Brand New Day  Working remotely for 2 weeks per year  We cover your travel costs, regardless of whether you come by bike, car, or public transport. A mobile phone allowance of EUR 25 per month Additional activities such as a bootcamp, volleyball tournament, company drinks etc. Interested? For more information about iwell, what we do, why we do it, and an overview of our partners, visit https://iwell.eu/. Our application process Apply. Our People & Culture Team and the hiring manager will review your application and will respond within 2 weeks. Phone screening. Are you a true iweller-in-the-making? We will invite you for an introductory call. Are you the one? You will have two or more interviews. For some roles, you will also be asked to work on a case. Apply or Apply with Indeed Share job

Senior Software Engineer | Data Infrastructure | Rust
BlockTech· Amsterdam (netherlands)·Jul 8
View job

BlockTech is a fast-paced algorithmic trading firm. Specializing in crypto options, we facilitate global cryptocurrency derivatives and spot trading, while expanding into new markets. As we continue to grow rapidly, we are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to take technical ownership of the data infrastructure our trading and technology teams are built on. Every decision at BlockTech starts with data: exchange feeds, our own trade and account events, and the history we query to make sense of both. The Foundation team owns the systems that move, aggregate, and store all of it. We run our own Kafka, NATS, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, and Iceberg, self-hosted and tuned by us. We work primarily in Rust, with Python and SQL alongside. This is a role for an engineer who has already built and operated data infrastructure at scale, and who wants their technical decisions to set direction rather than follow it. What will you do? You will own the pipelines and stores every other team depends on. When a researcher backtests a strategy, when a trader checks a position, when risk queries yesterday, they are all reading data your systems ingested, routed, and kept correct. As a senior engineer, you will also set the technical standards the rest of the team builds against. You will: Own the ingest path. Collect public and private exchange information and internal trading data with minimal latency impact, and land it in our trading systems in real time. Architect the streaming layer. Design and operate our Kafka and NATS messaging systems for the throughput and delivery guarantees our critical flows depend on. Build the storage layer. Develop real-time aggregation and long-term storage across PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, and Iceberg, and make the structural calls that keep queries fast as volumes grow. Run what you build. Own capacity, retention, schema evolution, and failure behavior for infrastructure we host ourselves, with no managed service to hide behind. Make the data trustworthy. Design the detection and repair flows that catch gaps, duplicates, and drift, and correct them before anyone downstream notices. Enable other teams. Work with trading, quantitative research, and engineering to make integrating with our platform straightforward, and turn recurring problems into shared libraries and frameworks. Drive projects end to end. Take work from concept to production with full ownership, and bring in new tools and approaches when the current ones stop being the right answer. Raise the bar. Mentor engineers, lead by example in code and design reviews, and influence the technical direction of the wider team. What we're looking for Essential: 5+ years as a software engineer, including a track record of designing and operating production data infrastructure where reliability and correctness are non-negotiable. Proficiency in Rust, or strong C/C++ with the appetite to work primarily in Rust. Hands-on experience with the infrastructure we rely on: Kafka, Redpanda, NATS, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, and/or Iceberg. Ideally self-hosted rather than through managed or cloud services. Solid understanding of distributed systems, with the judgment to reason about consistency, backpressure, and failure modes. Systems-level thinking, including a feel for where hardware constraints start to matter. A very strong sense of end-to-end ownership, and a critical mind that follows problems through to completion. Good written and verbal communication skills in English. Bonus points for: A background in trading, fintech, or another domain where bad data has immediate consequences. Experience with observability tooling such as Grafana. Familiarity with WebSockets, compiler engineering, or systems security. How we work This is an on-site role in our Amsterdam office, built around a high degree of autonomy and end-to-end ownership. You will have hard problems to own from concept through to production, and the freedom to solve them your way. It is a strong fit for people who are energized by deep technical challenges, a wide variety of technologies, and a high level of responsibility. What's in it for you? A full-time position in a relaxed and modern office in Amsterdam Competitive compensation consisting of a base salary combined with a very attractive bonus plan based on individual and company performance Outstanding performance is rewarded with the opportunity to buy into the trading fund Pension plan, company laptop, and reimbursement of your internet costs at home An extensive in-house training program and an annual learning & development budget The opportunity to work at the forefront of automated trading using technology built for speed and precision, in an environment that embraces AI to both accelerate productivity and advance our systems and models Gym membership reimbursement and the opportunity to engage in various sports during working hours, including kickboxing, CrossFit, fitness, and soccer Regular social events, including weekly Friday drinks, monthly outings, quarterly sports competitions, and bi-annual trips abroad Daily breakfast and warm lunch, plus snacks and drinks throughout the day For internationals: an all-in relocation package and Dutch classes Our culture At our core, we are a team of passionate trading and tech enthusiasts committed to revolutionizing trading through automation. Our collaborative approach ensures that everyone contributes to achieving our ambitious goals. In this role, you will be both challenged and stretched, with ample opportunities for growth and development, both within and beyond your main responsibilities. We invest in our people by offering competitive compensation and benefits, fostering innovation, and celebrating success. Our commitment to personal development transcends traditional norms; we provide an equal playing field, promote reverse leadership, and offer boundless growth opportunities for all our employees.

Principal DevOps Engineer
Datenna· Eindhoven, Noord-Brabant, Netherlands (netherlands)·Jun 16
View job

Join us as a Principal DevOps Engineer and own the cloud platform behind our intelligence systems. Datenna is a fast-growing tech scale-up combining open-source intelligence (OSINT) and AI to give governments worldwide critical insights into China's techno-economic landscape. Our platform transforms OSINT into actionable insights on China's Defense Industrial Base and broader technological ecosystem.  The Role: You join a small, senior infrastructure team to design, build and operate the Azure platform underneath our full data chain: acquisition, processing and consumption. You'll own our infrastructure as code, run our Kubernetes clusters, and build the automation and observability that keep everything reliable and secure, working closely with the other engineering teams who build on the platform. This is a high-ownership role: you build it, you run it.  It's a broad role, not a narrow one: the real challenge is range and judgment across the whole platform — networking, Kubernetes, data stores, CI/CD and security — with a lot of autonomy and genuine ownership of the decisions, not just the tasks. We hold a high security bar because we think it's the right way to build, not because anyone requires it of us. You'll thrive if you like owning the full picture and making the call, and it won't suit you if you'd rather go deep on one slice with a big team around you.  Your Mission at Datenna: The Azure platform end to end — built in code with Pulumi (Python), running our Kubernetes (AKS) clusters. You own how it's designed, deployed and operated.  Private-by-default networking — secure-by-design hub-spoke networking, where nothing is exposed that doesn't need to be.  Reliability and observability — operate our LGTM stack (Grafana, Mimir, Loki, Tempo), and turn alert noise and blind spots into actionable signal and calm incident response.  The data infrastructure under the platform — Neo4j, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch and Kafka: backup/restore, upgrades, performance and incident readiness, not just keeping the lights on.  The infrastructure for our AI and data workloads — Databricks, the OSINT data pipeline, and the compute behind our AI and model work.   What makes you a great candidate:  Senior-level experience owning production infrastructure, SRE, DevOps or platform systems end to end.  Strong Azure depth: networking, compute, storage and security services.  Infrastructure-as-Code, ideally with Pulumi (Terraform is fine too). Python development experience is a big plus.  Solid hands-on Kubernetes experience (we use AKS).  Solid networking fundamentals: private networking, DNS, load balancing, peering, network security.  Practical observability and incident-response experience.  Comfortable with on-call responsibilities.  You work AI-first. Agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Codex) are already part of how you work, and you use them with the judgment to verify output and own what ships.  Strong autonomy and written communication, comfortable as a broad owner in a small senior team.  Nice to have  Experience in regulated, defense, intelligence, fintech or other high-trust environments.  Hands-on with Neo4j, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Kafka or data-platform operations.  Grafana LGTM, OpenTelemetry, SLOs or alert-noise reduction.  Policy-as-code, workload identity, Key Vault or secrets management.  AI is part of how we build We use AI tools extensively to move faster and raise quality, and we focus our human attention on the work where judgment, creativity, and responsibility matter most. We expect every candidate to be comfortable using AI in their day-to-day work in a responsible manner and to continuously look for better ways to apply it. Please know that applicants may be subject to a screening process. Why Datenna? Work on globally impactful projects in geopolitical intelligence Lead innovation in OSINT and AI technologies Competitive compensation and benefits Dynamic, international team environment Significant growth opportunities in a scale-up When you apply to this position, we will process your personal data according to our Recruitment Privacy Notice. Do you want to join our team of GitHub geeks and get one step ahead in transforming how organizations build software? At Xebia Microsoft Services we are proud to be GitHub Partner of the Year, working with Microsoft MVP’s and GitHub Stars, and keeping short lines with the GitHub product teams. That means you get to work on some of the coolest GitHub projects out there. You will help clients migrate, optimize developer workflows, and turn complex processes into automated value streams. Think less firefighting and more innovation.   And don’t worry, you do not need to know everything about GitHub on day one. What matters most is your DevOps DNA. You understand how modern engineering culture works, and you know that tools are only powerful when people actually use them well. Responsibilities  As a GitHub Consultant you help organizations get the most out of GitHub, combining technical expertise with consultancy skills. You are a trusted advisor who helps clients embrace modern DevOps practices and make GitHub the backbone of their software delivery. Sometimes that means rolling up your sleeves to build workflows and pipelines. Other times it means translating business challenges into technical solutions and guiding teams through change. You will collaborate across teams to make sure GitHub becomes an integrated way of working rather than just a platform.  This includes:  Onboarding and Configuration: guide clients on their GitHub journey, from environment setup and initial onboarding to adoption  Pipeline Implementation: build and optimize CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, including advanced setups such as AKS self-hosted runners and Azure private networking  Migration: support complex repository and pipeline migrations, using automation and tools like GitHub Advanced Implementations (GAI) to streamline the process  Governance and Automation: enhance the platform with governance frameworks, reusable workflow templates, and onboarding processes that ensure consistency and scalability  Collaboration with GitHub: work closely with GitHub product teams and translate new features and best practices into client solutions  Knowledge Sharing: conduct workshops, Q&A sessions, and hands-on garage days to transfer knowledge and empower client teams    Job requirements What You Will Bring  You do not need to be a GitHub expert from day one. If you have experience with platforms like GitLab or Azure DevOps and the eagerness to learn, you will fit right in. What matters most is your ability to combine technical expertise with consultancy skills and your drive to help teams succeed. We are looking for a consultant who brings energy and a strong engineering mindset to every challenge. You know how to dive deep into automation and pipelines, but also how to ask the right questions, simplify complex topics, and build trust with different audiences.   This includes:  DevOps DNA: a proven background in DevOps practices and CI/CD, with experience improving software delivery processes  Platform Experience: hands-on experience with e.g. GitHub, GitLab, or Azure DevOps and the curiosity to grow into GitHub expertise  Infrastructure Skills: practical knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep) and containerization with Docker and Kubernetes  Consultancy & Communication: the ability to engage with both engineers and executives, build trust with stakeholders, lead workshops, and simplify complex challenges  Growth Mindset: eagerness to learn from Microsoft MVPs, GitHub Stars, and colleagues who push the boundaries of what is possible  Your Path To Success In The First Year  Build trust with clients by delivering high-quality GitHub solutions that improve their developer experience.  Collaborate on migrations and optimizations with experienced colleagues, developing the expertise to independently lead projects as your skills grow.  Act as a trusted advisor, guiding organizations in adopting DevOps practices and scaling GitHub across teams.  Share your expertise inside and outside Xebia, through knowledge sessions, blogs, talks, or community contributions.

Software Engineer - Battery Controller & Infrastructure
iwell· Utrecht, Utrecht, Netherlands (netherlands)
View job

Acquisition based on this vacancy is not appreciated.
