Fabric Data Engineer (Eindhoven)
Xebia· Eindhoven, Noord-Brabant, Netherlands (netherlands)·Jun 22
View job

You're an experienced data engineer who gets excited about landing the rapidly evolving Fabric stack at data-driven enterprises the right way. You don't just build pipelines you think about how to do it right. You care about defining best practices, bringing software engineering discipline to the data platform world, and making things work at scale. You're pragmatic, opinionated where it matters, and always looking to raise the bar. The Xebia Data Division Xebia Data is one of the divisions of Xebia Netherlands, renowned for its expertise in building strong Data and AI practices that deliver value to our clients. In the past, our team has predicted daily bread demand for millions of loaves, built advanced energy-saving algorithms at a national scale, and established data innovation labs at large multinational companies! You’ll work with the sharpest data professionals in Europe, people who are not only technically brilliant but also generous with their knowledge. We enjoy the benefits of being part of a large organization while maintaining the energetic atmosphere of a scale-up. Our commitment to our community is strong; we are deeply rooted in the local landscape. What You’ll Be Doing To Make Organizations Data-Driven Microsoft Fabric is becoming the go-to data platform for many organizations, and teams are eager to unlock its full potential. That's where you come in. You'll help clients adopt Fabric the right way: with proper engineering practices, reproducible deployments, testable code, and architectures that don't fall apart at scale. Your day-to-day will include designing lakehouses and data pipelines in Fabric, but also tackling the harder questions: How do you set up CI/CD for Fabric? How do you manage environments and promotion? How do you structure a workspace for a team of ten? You'll define the patterns others follow. Fabric is your main focus, but you stay curious. You keep an eye on the broader ecosystem, whether that's Azure, AWS, GCP, or open-source tools like Spark, Terraform, and dbt. You understand that good engineering principles transfer across platforms, and you bring that perspective to every engagement. You use your communication skills as much as your technical skills. You explain your design choices, align stakeholders, and help client teams make confident and informed decisions about their data platform. You will be surrounded by experts from diverse fields and learn from different environments and industries. It’s not always easy, but it is always rewarding. You will work on projects of varying lengths. Some are three weeks, some are one year, most are in between. Every project is different, as is every client. You'll work in mixed teams of Xebians and client engineers, building the foundations that power data products When on-site with clients, you may encounter something very difficult to solve. At Xebia we work as a team and we've got your back. Everyone is just a message away and ready to help! We say People First, and we mean it. Job requirements What are we looking for The Data Engineer role is a senior position integral to our teams, so we ask for at least 3 years of relevant Data Engineering work, with at least 1.5 years of that working with (or helping to transfer to) Fabric. That said, we’re always open to talent that stands out! If you have unique achievements, like contributing to open-source projects or founding your own startup, we encourage you to apply, no matter your experience level. This is your dream job if…. ✅ You have hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric and want to push it further by defining best practices, not just following tutorials. ✅ You care about software engineering fundamentals like version control, testing, CI/CD, and code review, and you want to bring these to the Fabric ecosystem. ✅ You think about scale. You've dealt with (or are eager to tackle) the challenges that come when data volumes, team sizes, and complexity grow. ✅ You're curious beyond Fabric. You have experience with or interest in other clouds (Azure, AWS, GCP) and tools like Spark, Terraform, dbt, or Airflow. ✅ You like working for different clients and enjoy learning in new environments and meeting new people on a regular basis in various locations. This is not your dream job if…. ❌ You prefer clicking through UIs over writing code. We believe in engineering our data platforms, not just configuring them. ❌ You're not interested in how things work under the hood. We want people who dig deeper. ❌ You prefer to work alone and get drained from having to explain why you made certain technical choices. ❌ You don't enjoy sharing knowledge. We write, speak, and teach because it's part of who we are. ❌ You don’t live in the Netherlands. The Xebia Way We believe in building a respectful and collaborative atmosphere where everyone can shine. Picture this: a team of curious minds, always eager to learn and share ideas. We are especially proud of our generous educational budget and our “Hack-What-You-Want” Fridays, where you can dive into projects that excite you. We champion our consultants to grow into advisors and thought leaders, whether that’s publishing blogs, speaking at events, or shaping conversations about Data & AI. Xebia is a Great Place to Work certified organization driven by technology evangelists in Data and AI. Our global presence has a proven record of success across industries. Our Commitment to You Enjoy free healthy lunches and not-so-healthy drinks/snacks at our offices. Get a lease car or mobility budget Pick whatever laptop or MacBook you like! Choose your phone 📱 You can work on that innovative idea of yours next to other colleagues during our monthly Xebia Data Fridays. A modern office in Eindhoven. Unlimited book budget 📚 You can build/test/experiment with anything you want in our sandbox environments in GCP, AWS, and Azure Pension plan. Fun events and activities like ski trips, BBQs, cooking workshops and more! 👩🏽‍🍳 5k educational budget. And please, do spend every bit of it! Career strategy support to help you scale your skills and leadership Our core values are people first, quality without compromise, knowledge sharing, and customer intimacy. Principal DevOps Engineer
Datenna· Eindhoven, Noord-Brabant, Netherlands (netherlands)·Jun 16
View job

Join us as a Principal DevOps Engineer and own the cloud platform behind our intelligence systems. Datenna is a fast-growing tech scale-up combining open-source intelligence (OSINT) and AI to give governments worldwide critical insights into China's techno-economic landscape. Our platform transforms OSINT into actionable insights on China's Defense Industrial Base and broader technological ecosystem.  The Role: You join a small, senior infrastructure team to design, build and operate the Azure platform underneath our full data chain: acquisition, processing and consumption. You'll own our infrastructure as code, run our Kubernetes clusters, and build the automation and observability that keep everything reliable and secure, working closely with the other engineering teams who build on the platform. This is a high-ownership role: you build it, you run it.  It's a broad role, not a narrow one: the real challenge is range and judgment across the whole platform — networking, Kubernetes, data stores, CI/CD and security — with a lot of autonomy and genuine ownership of the decisions, not just the tasks. We hold a high security bar because we think it's the right way to build, not because anyone requires it of us. You'll thrive if you like owning the full picture and making the call, and it won't suit you if you'd rather go deep on one slice with a big team around you.  Your Mission at Datenna: The Azure platform end to end — built in code with Pulumi (Python), running our Kubernetes (AKS) clusters. You own how it's designed, deployed and operated.  Private-by-default networking — secure-by-design hub-spoke networking, where nothing is exposed that doesn't need to be.  Reliability and observability — operate our LGTM stack (Grafana, Mimir, Loki, Tempo), and turn alert noise and blind spots into actionable signal and calm incident response.  The data infrastructure under the platform — Neo4j, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch and Kafka: backup/restore, upgrades, performance and incident readiness, not just keeping the lights on.  The infrastructure for our AI and data workloads — Databricks, the OSINT data pipeline, and the compute behind our AI and model work.   What makes you a great candidate:  Senior-level experience owning production infrastructure, SRE, DevOps or platform systems end to end.  Strong Azure depth: networking, compute, storage and security services.  Infrastructure-as-Code, ideally with Pulumi (Terraform is fine too). Python development experience is a big plus.  Solid hands-on Kubernetes experience (we use AKS).  Solid networking fundamentals: private networking, DNS, load balancing, peering, network security.  Practical observability and incident-response experience.  Comfortable with on-call responsibilities.  You work AI-first. Agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Codex) are already part of how you work, and you use them with the judgment to verify output and own what ships.  Strong autonomy and written communication, comfortable as a broad owner in a small senior team.  Nice to have  Experience in regulated, defense, intelligence, fintech or other high-trust environments.  Hands-on with Neo4j, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Kafka or data-platform operations.  Grafana LGTM, OpenTelemetry, SLOs or alert-noise reduction.  Policy-as-code, workload identity, Key Vault or secrets management.  AI is part of how we build We use AI tools extensively to move faster and raise quality, and we focus our human attention on the work where judgment, creativity, and responsibility matter most. We expect every candidate to be comfortable using AI in their day-to-day work in a responsible manner and to continuously look for better ways to apply it. Please know that applicants may be subject to a screening process. Why Datenna? Work on globally impactful projects in geopolitical intelligence Lead innovation in OSINT and AI technologies Competitive compensation and benefits Dynamic, international team environment Significant growth opportunities in a scale-up When you apply to this position, we will process your personal data according to our Recruitment Privacy Notice. You're responsible for taking AI solutions into production to generate value, ensuring applications are scalable, testable, robust, and extendable. When working in a larger team, you take a leading role regarding technical decisions and you coach (junior) engineers to grow their technical expertise. To do this you work closely with engineers, data scientists and business stakeholders.  Senior AI Engineer  You develop cutting-edge AI applications, from GenAI solutions to agentic AI systems that transform how businesses operate. You know how to rigorously evaluate your solutions to ensure they deliver real business value, not just impressive demos. At Xebia Data, we solve real business problems with AI. Over the past decade, our team has predicted daily demand for millions of loaves of bread, built advanced energy-saving algorithms at a nationwide scale, automated video labeling with GenAI for TV programs, and set up data innovation labs at large multinational corporations.  You'll be part of a team that transforms promising concepts into production-ready solutions that drive measurable business outcomes. Whether you're deploying ML models at scale, building the platforms that enable AI teams to work efficiently, or creating cutting-edge GenAI applications, your work will directly contribute to making our clients truly AI-driven.  Some examples of solutions that ML Engineers and AI Engineers from the Eindhoven team delivered in the past year for customers in the region: an agent that is used in practise and already resulted in actual business value for the client, a solution to classify the quality of flower bouquets using vision, a LLM-based data extraction solution to save unstructured information from historical documents.  We've already enjoyed great success – just think of what more we can achieve when YOU join our team!    What you will do to make AI - driven applications You collaborate closely with data scientists and business users on your team to understand the problem being addressed and their approach. Your Engineering skills enable you to build scalable AI solutions that are robust and easy to maintain.  During on-site client engagements, you may encounter challenging problems. Fortunately, Xebia organizes regular knowledge sharing sessions and remote work sessions where you can discuss and find solutions with the collective intelligence of the entire team.
