You’ll be joining Bauer Media Audio (BMA), Europe’s biggest commercial audio broadcaster, connecting audiences across nine markets to the music, stories and experiences they love. Bauer Media Audio is making a significant investment in a new in‑house software engineering hub in Manchester. This new hub reinforces Manchester’s position as a key technology centre for Bauer Media Audio, alongside its existing locations. We’re creating a new engineering team to build innovative business-critical solutions that will power Bauer Media’s audio platform of the future. Our team is built around squads, each aligned to a distinct value stream, with a layer of cross-squad roles – people whose expertise and support spans the whole team. Each squad will be led by a Product Manager and Lead Engineer, working in partnership and jointly accountable for their squad's work and outcomes. Squads are intentionally small – typically around five to six engineers – keeping them focused, collaborative, and able to move quickly. Our team thrives on collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to delivering high-quality, scalable solutions, working closely with product and technology peers to ensure our platforms meet the evolving needs of the business and our international markets. The Difference You Will Make As Lead Engineer, you will combine hands-on technical contribution with the day-to-day leadership and people management of a software engineering squad within our new engineering team. You will work alongside your team, writing and reviewing code, guiding technical decisions, maintaining engineering standards, supporting the growth of individual engineers, and acting as the connective tissue between your squad and the broader engineering organisation. You'll work closely with the Director of Engineering and leaders from adjacent disciplines to ensure your team’s work aligns with our technical direction and product priorities. You'll lead with empathy and clarity to foster a culture of continuous improvement, shared ownership, and engineering excellence within your squad. Team leadership roles are vital to our success so you will play a key role in helping to create a diverse, welcoming and inclusive environment that is psychologically safe, where everyone can be their authentic selves and do their best work, every day. Your Role Grow your team Support your engineers’ career development and build a motivated, high-performing squad through regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and by creating individual growth plans. Mentor junior and mid-level engineers – fostering a continuous improvement culture and helping the team build technical confidence and skills. Contribute technically Write and review code as an active contributor to your squad’s delivery – guiding by example on quality, maintainability, and best practice. Guide architectural decisions and technical direction within your squad and contribute to broader engineering discussions. Drive delivery and planning Plan and manage squad capacity across projects – forecast hiring needs and allocating resources effectively to meet delivery commitments. Participate in roadmap, refinement, and sprint planning sessions – working closely with Product colleagues and adjacent discipline leads, providing technical input, ensuring clear scoping, and surfacing dependencies and risks early. Uphold engineering standards Define and sustain coding standards and review processes – conducting code reviews focused on quality, maintainability, and consistency. Track and manage technical debt within your squad – balancing debt reduction with feature delivery and escalating systemic issues where needed. Ensure operational excellence Participate in the in-hours and out-of-hours incident management rotas, providing hands-on technical support and clear, calm communication during high-pressure situations. Advocate for the ‘you build it, you run it’ ethos – ensuring your squad is equipped to deploy, operate, and support the systems they build as part of a DevOps culture where second line out of hours support is the expectation. What We're Looking For Experience of some but not necessarily all of the following: Technical capability Solid hands-on software engineering experience, with sufficient depth across frontend and backend development to guide technical decisions, review code meaningfully, and set the standard for your squad. Able to lead a team across our core stack — a Java Spring Boot, AWS, Kubernetes and Kafka back end, with a TypeScript/React front end — deep expertise in some areas, with the breadth to engage credibly across the rest. A strong grasp of software architecture principles — domain-driven design, service boundaries, and event-driven communication (e.g. via Kafka) — and the ability to guide your squad's technical direction within a broader engineering strategy. Modern engineering practices: CI/CD, containerisation, version control workflows, code review, testing strategies, and observability. Security best practices embedded across the development lifecycle, with the ability to guide your squad to do the same. An awareness of AI trends within engineering and an interest in AI-assisted development tooling – understanding how these tools can improve your squad's productivity and code quality. Leadership and people skills Leading or mentoring with a servant-leadership mindset and a genuine focus on the growth and wellbeing of your colleagues. Communicating with a range of people and organisational roles, managing stakeholder expectations, representing your team’s needs, and fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary teams. Acting as an escalation point for your team, supporting them through complex or time-sensitive situations. Taking an organised and structured approach to planning, managing priorities and keeping delivery on track. Industry and delivery experience Leading a software engineering team or squad in a product-led, multidisciplinary organisation, with a track record of consistent, quality delivery. Agile software delivery practices and methodologies – with the experience to implement the right approach for your squad's context; SCRUM experience is a plus. Adapting to evolving business priorities, communicating calmly and clearly when under pressure. Media, audio streaming, or consumer platform experience is a plus. Working Pattern and Location This is a permanent, hybrid, full-time role with an in-office presence twice a week in our Manchester hub. Like all roles in the team, this one includes participation in incident management rotas – we schedule these collaboratively, taking into account everyone's responsibilities and commitments outside of work. Why Join Us? The chance to lead a team building platforms that reach millions of listeners across Europe, with real impact on the products people use every day. A growing engineering organisation investing heavily in its people, practices, and technology – with genuine support for leadership development. A collaborative, product-led environment where engineering has a clear and respected voice in shaping business outcomes. An environment that values empathy, accountability, continuous learning, and engineering excellence. Join beqom — where tech meets impact beqom is a high-growth B2B SaaS company that provides industry-leading tools for pay equity and transparency, compensation, and performance management. Trusted by some of the world’s most respected companies, beqom enables HR and business leaders to navigate global compliance and make smarter pay decisions that attract, retain, and motivate top talent. Founded in Switzerland and serving clients worldwide, our powerful, enterprise-ready products are fuelled by beqom pay intelligence. Role Overview We are looking for a Senior Agentic Backend Engineer to join our Data Platform Core team, which owns the services at the heart of beqom’s data architecture — multi-tenant data ingestion, schema management, snapshots, calculated fields, and the data contracts powering analytics and reporting across the product. In this role you will not write the code. AI agents will. You will own the specifications that govern these services, the agentic pipeline that turns those specifications into production software, and the verification machinery that proves the output is correct — with the explicit goal of reaching fully AI-embedded development: no human-written code, no human line-by-line review, and external behavioural scenarios, not traditional test suites, as the quality gate. You will collaborate closely with Data Platform and Analytics engineers, Support teams, and Product stakeholders — translating their needs into agent-executable specifications. Specs are our system of record; agents do the typing. What you'll be doing Agentic Delivery Deliver features across multi-tenant data platform services — data ingestion, schema management, effective dating, snapshots, calculated fields, and exports — exclusively through AI agents working from your specifications. Author structured, testable Product Requirement Prompts (PRPs) and spec files as the primary engineering artefact, and maintain the versioned spec library that governs the codebase. Run multiple agents in parallel across workstreams; evaluate outcomes against specs; progress agent first-pass success rate, defect escape rate, and the share of changes merged without human review steadily upward. Pipeline Engineering Build and maintain the agentic pipeline: agent harness, blueprint engine interleaving deterministic steps (lint, build, git) with AI reasoning, MCP tool layer exposing internal APIs, warm sandbox pool, and retrieval over the codebase, tickets, and historical PRs. Own the economics of the pipeline: observability over token usage, task latency, and cost per run; model-tier routing and cost-per-outcome gating. Embed governance into the pipeline — machine-generated audit trails, named ownership per feature, data-classification gates keeping production secrets and PII out of agent context. Verification Engineering Engineer verification, not code: external behavioural scenario suites and holdout sets stored outside the codebase (agents never see the evaluation criteria), digital twins of the systems we integrate with, layered AI-reviews-AI gates, and automated remediation for self-healing services. Set and enforce the constraints that keep agent output correct on performance-critical paths: bulk ingestion throughput, large export streaming, memory behaviour, and complex SQL — validated by scenario and load gates rather than line-by-line reading. Production Ownership & Collaboration Diagnose and resolve production data issues through agents — with deep enough functional understanding of every service you own to steer remediation quickly, in collaboration with Support and Engineering. Document the specs, scenarios, and pipeline decisions that govern the platform — artefacts both humans and agents can act on — and help other engineers make the same shift. Skills & Experience What you'll bring Demonstrated senior-level experience building production backend services — including .NET/Cand PostgreSQL systems — with a demonstrable shift from writing code to directing agents: the majority of your recent production output should be AI-generated under your direction. Hands-on mastery of AI coding agents — Claude Code strongly preferred — including parallel agent sessions, custom skills and sub-agents, and structuring codebases and context so agents work reliably. Excellence in specification writing — turning ambiguous business needs into precise, agent-executable PRPs and spec files. In this role, spec quality is the single most load-bearing skill. Strong verification engineering: behavioural and scenario-based testing, holdout evaluation, quality gates, and validation frameworks — the ability to trust and judge output you did not write. Strong architecture judgement: assessing whether an agent-proposed solution meets performance, scalability, and reliability requirements, and challenging designs that will not hold up under real workloads. Experience building agent infrastructure: MCP servers and tool layers, sandboxed execution, and CI/CD adapted for agent-driven workflows. Deep enough .NET/Cand SQL reading fluency to audit generated code when quality gates flag it — schema design, query plans, streaming vs. buffering, memory behaviour. Excellent written communication: specs, scenario definitions, and design docs that both humans and agents can act on. Bonus points if you have Experience building digital twins or service virtualisations of external systems for agent evaluation environments. Experience with LLM evaluation at scale: eval suites, red-teaming AI-generated code, benchmarking agent workflows. Multi-tenant SaaS architecture experience, CDC/event-driven ingestion (Debezium, Kafka, RabbitMQ/MassTransit), or lakehouse exposure (Microsoft Fabric). Azure services, Docker, Kubernetes/Helm. Experience with legal, security, or compliance frameworks for AI-authored code. Familiarity with compensation, HR, or pay transparency domains. Why join us? Your career, your design. Unleash your ambition in our dynamic, autonomous environment. Drive meaningful change. Build a fairer future for every employee by joining a market leader that is improving the world of work. You will collaborate closely with Data Platform and Analytics engineers, Support teams, and Product stakeholders. We are an AI-first engineering team — Claude Code, agent orchestration, and automated review workflows are how we build by default, and we expect you to help push that practice further. What you'll be doing Feature Development Design and build features across multi-tenant data platform services: data ingestion, schema management, effective dating, snapshots, calculated fields, and exports. Work hands-on with .NET 8/C, PostgreSQL, EF Core, Dapper, MediatR (CQRS), and RabbitMQ (MassTransit) event-driven workflows. Optimise performance-critical paths: bulk ingestion, large data exports, memory-efficient streaming, and complex SQL. Agentic Development Deliver most of your output through AI agents: decompose features into well-structured specifications, run parallel agent sessions, and review outcomes critically before they ship. Build and maintain the team’s agentic tooling: custom Claude Code skills and sub-agents, MCP tools exposing internal APIs, prompt/context conventions (CLAUDE.md), and automated review pipelines. Design the verification that makes agent speed safe: test strategy, quality gates, and evals that catch hallucinated APIs, subtle logic errors, and performance regressions in generated code. Quality & Collaboration Investigate and resolve production data issues in collaboration with Support and Engineering. Maintain strong test coverage: unit and integration tests. Improve observability (OpenTelemetry) and operational stability. Document architecture decisions and write clear, actionable PRs and commit messages. Mentor other engineers — in backend craft and in effective agent-driven development — and raise the bar in code reviews. Skills & Experience What you'll bring Demonstrated senior-level experience building production backend services with .NET/C. Strong SQL and PostgreSQL skills: schema design and query optimisation. Proven performance and memory awareness — streaming vs. buffering, profiling and load-testing skills — and the ability to judge whether AI-generated solutions meet performance and scalability needs. Track record of shipping features that are complete and stable, backed by strong test discipline. Experience with multi-tenant SaaS architectures. Deep, daily experience with AI-driven development — Claude Code strongly preferred — including multi-agent orchestration, building custom skills and sub-agents, and structuring codebases and context for effective agent work. Everything that makes you unique is welcome; join us and let’s build what’s next - together! Anaplan is the leading enterprise decision-making platform, powering the world’s largest enterprises with our proprietary Hyperblock™ technology and cloud infrastructure. We are seeking a Principal Engineer to join our team in Manchester, UK. Your Impact Lead the design, delivery, and architecture of platform capabilities powering Anaplan’s enterprise-scale API gateways, edge routing, and developer acceleration. Build and scale high-throughput backend engines that manage core request orchestration, seamless multi-tenant isolation, and API-first solutions serving thousands of tenants and tens of thousands of users. Partner with architects and senior engineers across the Platform Experience domain to set technical direction, aligning implementation patterns for complex initiatives (like Vanity URLs, JWT auth flows, and cross-service proxying). Drive the evolution of our deployment infrastructure, championing modern GitOps workflows (ArgoCD, Helm) and highly available containerized orchestration. Own foundational features end-to-end—from design through to production—while continuously improving system observability, implementing intelligent rate-limiting, and solving complex concurrency challenges (e.g., database locks and connection starvation). Deliver thought leadership and coding excellence across Java/Kotlin, ensuring seamless integration between backend microservices and UI components (including resolving complex CORS and distributed edge proxy requirements). Mentor and elevate engineers across global teams through design reviews, pair programming, and hands-on leadership to foster a resilient engineering culture. Your Qualifications Extensive background in software engineering within enterprise-scale, high-throughput platform or data-centric environments. Understand, leverage, and integrate modern AI tools and concepts—including agentic programming patterns and LLM-assisted workflows—to accelerate platform engineering and developer velocity. Deep expertise in backend JVM languages (Java and/or Kotlin) with a strong understanding of distributed systems internals. Proven track record of delivering API-first infrastructures, API Gateways (e.g., Traefik), and edge routing solutions that guarantee enterprise reliability under sustained traffic loads (2K+ requests per second). Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, containerized deployments, and managing complex CI/CD pipelines (strong familiarity with GitOps, ArgoCD, and high-velocity release workflows). Solid grounding in event-driven architecture, real-time data processing, and managing complex database transaction scopes at scale. Experience balancing rapid prototyping and fast iteration with long-term sustainability and quality—you have a bias for action and prefer to try and iterate rather than wait for perfect information. Exceptional technical communicator with a proven ability to align globally distributed teams. You are highly skilled at distilling complex concepts into clear, structured RFCs and architectural designs to build consensus. Understand, leverage, and integrate modern AI tools and concepts—including agentic programming patterns and LLM-assisted workflows—to accelerate platform engineering and developer velocity. Preferred Skills You have shaped architecture and platform strategy at an enterprise scale, navigating the trade-offs of hybrid and cloud-agnostic infrastructures. You bring a polyglot mindset, matching the right technology to the challenge rather than defaulting to a single stack (comfortable exploring React, Python, or Go when needed). Genuine curiosity—you're energized by learning new technologies and approaches to solve edge routing and platform enablement challenges. You enjoy mentoring others and raising the bar for engineering culture, without big egos. You're highly comfortable operating in distributed teams, embracing asynchronous collaboration, and driving consensus across distinct domains.
